Sickness affecting relationship with parents. Advice?

So, at random guess, I'd say about six months ago, I began to have constant nausea and lightheadedness. We (my parents and I) made a couple visits to our family doctor. He thought the symptoms may be caused by stress, so he taught me a couple exercises which he thought could help. I tried them and they didn't help. Went back to Dr. J, who put me on some samples of Protonix, and sent me to get some blood work done. The blood work showed nothing out of the ordinary, besides a small touch of dehydration. The protonix worked for a little while, then stopped altogether, and I was getting no relief with my constant nausea. Over the next few months, my meds were switched from Protonix to Omeprazole, from Omeprazole back to protonix, from protonix to Ranitidine, from Ranitidine back to Protonix. Nothing is giving me any relief from the constant nausea. I've tried everything from exercises to drinking nothing but ginger ale. The stress from me being sick is really.....Sickness affecting relationship with parents. Advice?
I feel for you because Ive been through this for 4 months. The stress just makes it worse for me as well. Im taking Ranitididine and getting nausea from it after trying Nexium which work great for 3 years and then I got Ill with horrible bloating. Protonix made me very sick. See a GI doctor and he should start to do some testing. EGD and colonoscopy together just to make sure everything is working well.

Tell him waiting for a diagnosis is altering your life and bringing on more stress. It sounds like he is treating you for GERD which isn't a bad thing but it could be a lactose intolerance or celiac disease as well so blood tests should be done.

I know what your going through. Maybe someone can give you some other ideas in the alternative medicine field.

Good Luck!

Panic Disorder can be hereditary and there is no such thing as the person just snapping out of it. You need to see a therapist and find out why your suffering distress at such a young age. If it is nerves its not unusual for it to go straight to your stomach. You should be on 5 smaller meals a day with the last meal 5 hours before you go to bed and a diet of no fats, fried foods, no smoking, soda, alcohol. Put a bunch of pillows under your head and upper back when you sleep so your not lying flat. All this will help heal your tummy. You should eat bland for a bit and see a therapist familiar with PD. If you don't like her or him see another until you find the right fit. You might have PD or you might have general stomach problems. A good therapist will be able to help you decipher it all. Your parents are probably frustrated because they are worried about your grades rightfully so. They should also be supportive and understanding especially since your mom has PD and it runs in families. Thanks for the genes mom!!! lol Don't lose hope. Just follow some of this advice and also read some holistic ways to help your stomach and nerves as well. A good relaxation cd helps. But their definately is a strong link between the brain and stomach so it could be anxiety.

I've read DGL is good for gerd. Its made from licorice. You can find it in your health food store if the meds keep messing with your stomach. DGL is all natural. Research it first online for dosage.

After reading one of your prior questions here on Yahoo

Id concur with your doctor and say its probably your nerves but you need to be in therapy to help deal with your family issues. Tell your doctor to speak to your parents about getting you in to see someone. Mom going isn't important. This is now about you and how you need to deal with their stuff so you can be healthy. It might be entirely related to things your going through in your head because of them and its coming out through your stomach nausea. Fix the root of the problem fix the problem.Sickness affecting relationship with parents. Advice?
