A relationship/rejection question, advice or thoughts?

so there is this girl I know very well, about 4-5 years, and we were just friends back then until last year. We both agreed that we had feelings for each other in the romantic manner (we weren't official tho). It was the start of my college career so i was really busy and nothing happen. This summer we started to communicate again and i tried to make her official but she rejected me. She said that she thinks we're better off as friends. I asked what she thought last summer an she said that she had feelings for me but since i was really busy and she was busy, the feelings faded. I asked her if her feelings for me would be gone forever and she said ';maybe not forever but... i don't expect them to come back. that's why i told you to not expect anything.'; I really don't know what to do now. I really like this girl because she's a great person and i want to be in a relationship with her. any advice?A relationship/rejection question, advice or thoughts?
